Once a Baker always a baker: Meet Krystel!

Hi friends!

My name is Krystel and I would describe myself as very food motivated and having the biggest sweet tooth! My love for baking started very early for me - I was actually born Krystel Baker, before I got married and had my last name changed. And I sure did love baking. I started with cakes, dabbled in tempering chocolate, brought Oreo bon bons to school; I loved the chemistry of baking and seeing the excitement of people I baked for.

I was also inspired by my mom, who, on top of being the best cook in the universe, is also a talented baker. She makes the best ensaymadas and other delicious Filipino desserts like leche flan, biko, sapin sapin, cassava cake - the list goes on! Mom’s cooking is the epitome of “made with love”.

When life became busy with school and studies, I had to set it all aside. Now working as a pediatric pharmacist full time, Side Quest Bakery represents a milestone in my life where I can finally pursue my passion hobby with my whole heart. Special thank you to my husband, sister, family, friends, and coworkers for supporting and encouraging me to take the leap!
